I was 17 when I graduated high school. I graduated from college at 21…And by 23, I was graduating from Pepperdine with a Masters. The one question I continuously get when asked about Pepperdine is: “How often were you at the beach?”
NOT OFTEN. To be honest, RARELY. I spent two years of my life in graduate school reading, reading and READING. I absolutely love to read. I am an AVID reader. My favorite thing to do on a Saturday is go to Barnes and Noble to buy a new book. My Amazon credit card has the highest balance due to all of the used books I buy. If this doesn’t say something about me, Lord knows what does.
So today I wanted to share some of my favorite books. I won’t go into massive details. I’ll try and keep it short, but here are 9 books from my MUST READ list. XO
THE FOUR AGREEMENTS – You want proper life balance? Buy this book. 4 simple agreements…game changers.
PREMIERSHIP PSYCHO – Kev King is the reason this book is a must read. I finished this book in 3 days. I was honestly so into it that when I finished it…I was seriously depressed.
JUST WHO WILL YOU BE? – A short read, only 90+ pages of goodness. I read it before bed within an hour and honestly got teary-eyed. Shriver speaks about changing your mind and it truly spoke to me.
THE UNTETHERED SOUL- Honestly, what’s better than being young, wild and free? And more importantly, just FREE. This book is all about freeing yourself from limitations.
IN THE MEANTIME- This book was given to me as a gift and it was given to me at the perfect time in my life. Iyanla had/has? a show on Oprah’s OWN network…she’s the person known for getting Rihanna to cry on TV. She’s kind of a big deal.
YOU ARE A BADASS – I work in DTLA by an Urban Outfitters. I bought this bright yellow book one day while taking a walk to clear my head. It is a NO BS kind of read. Jen tells it like it is – a good kick in the ass.
BALANCING IN HEELS – Who would’ve thought that the villain of Laguna Beach would be such an awesome, well-balanced mommy?! Her recipe tips, her relationship advice and her wit all add up to one fun read.
THUS SPOKE ZARATHUSTRA – It’s called “A book for all and none” for a reason. No matter who you are, what you believe in, and why…this book is good for you.
I WAS TOLD THERE’D BE CAKE – This is the book I constantly recommend to friends who ask for a good read. It’s a very witty book of essays, all of my friends thank me and ask for the next recommendation after they read this. My next suggestion for them? #GIRLBOSS, of course.
